I began working with a friend going through her closet. We worked for three hours pulling everything out. We found what worked and what didn’t. We found that my friend had a distinct style all her own. She had a look hidden in her closet unknown to her. We put things together that didn’t normally go together. We donated pieces that were part of her past not part of who she had become. We found she had a beautiful style living in her closet.

For myself, I discovered things I did not know I knew.

I have been reading Vogue since I was 11 or 12. I would grocery shop with my Mom and beg her for the newest issues. I followed her through the aisles devouring the pages. I learned how to achieve style. I also learned to appreciate the style within each individual. Yet, I always knew that high fashion was not the every day fashion but rather, the inspiration.

I went to college and earned an A.A. degree in Merchandising and Marketing. I discovered how to plan floor space with product. I practiced planning the numbers behind buying the product to fill the space. And I found that I loved to shop and study how retailers attract customers into their stores.

I have been in retail for 25 years. In that time I have worked for close out,specialty, and children’s apparel retailers. I have also worked on the manufacturing end of the retail cycle. Half way through this career, I earned a B.A. in fashion design. That was the most creative and exciting time of my education. Design school taught me the importance of fit, fabrication, and undergarments. All important aspects of good style.
